Virginia Beach, Virginia

LifeNet Health, founded in 1982, is the Country's largest non-profit allograft, bio implant and regenerative medicine company. In 2011 the organization served over 400,000 patients globally. This expansion of their Virginia Beach Campus is a fulfillment of the Company's vision to "be the leading provider of organ donation and tissue banking services through strong partnerships, planned growth and promotion of operational efficiency and innovation". This new state of the art facility will allow LifeNet Health to add 150 professional scientific and research professionals to their current staff of over 560. The Institute of Regenerative Medicine will further LifeNet's mission to save lives and restore health to patients across the globe, strengthening Hampton Roads' position as an emerging global bio-technical and medical research center. The 42,000 square foot facility houses key scientific and discovery operations and is only one of a few of its kind in the United States.

The two story building complements the design of their campus and corporate headquarters and continues the mission, the image and the science that makes LifeNet Health an Internationally recognized global leader in regenerative science and medicine. Constructed of steel and concrete and sheathed in brick and metal skin and wrapped in glass, the building has a modern design. A cantilevered overhang and high performance glazing temper the natural light that enters the public and private spaces that support the science to provide an environment that promotes performance and inspires guests and global scientists.

The First Floor supports the science departments of Histology, Cell Culture, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Bio Chemistry, Clean Rooms, Wet Labs, Cryogenic Storage, Support Spaces and Facility Operations. The First Floor also greets staff, guests and dignitaries with a glassed two story Lobby that connects to a State of the Art Audio Visual, 100 seat Theater that can provide prerecorded, interactive or live lectures or procedures designed for teaching or training scientists from around the World. A Translator's Room is positioned to allow the experience to be translated live to any visiting audience in their native language. The Audio Visual Booth has the capability to record or transmit a lecture or event anywhere in the World. This space is supported by a full service Catering Kitchen and Reception Hall that connects to the open Lobby for special events or ceremonies.

The Second Floor houses glassed walled Offices for the many scientists and technicians and allow natural light into the open office areas. A Corporate Board Room with full viewing of the Lecture Theater is accessible from the Second Floor Lobby. A Resource Room, Patent Library, Break Room, Locker Rooms, Training Rooms and Conference Rooms are all provided to support the building's science. Natural light, sustainable material selections, energy efficient systems and sophisticated scientific assemblies combine to make the working environment experience one that fosters scientific discoveries and LifeNet Health's mission of improving and advancing the quality of life.
