This new state-of-the-art medical office building is phase one of the Greenbrier Healthplex campus. The building fronts on a major drop-off loop which will also serve the future Ambulatory Surgical Center. The architectural composition brings together brick, aluminum panels and high performance glass to provide a blend of traditional and high-tech design elements. To meet the owner’s strict budget requirements, the brick facades were treated verysimply, acting as a back drop for the drama created by the curved aluminum and glass forms. A cantilevered aluminum wedge acts as a drop-off canopy in lieu of a columned structure. The rear façade continued this architectural language utilizing punched windowsand aluminum panels to add interest to an otherwise flat elevation. A telescoping aluminum and glass enclosure connects the building to the Mobile MRI / CT trucks, providing ease of access for the patients. The goal of the overall design was to provide a strong and visually crisp image and not to rely on superfluous façade ornamentation. The result is a facility hich successfully exceeded all of the Owner’s expectations and has resulted in a sophisticated compliment to the Owner’s mission to provide quality health care.
